Art Deco 17c is an abstract construction from parts of another abstract image (Hammers and Strings 107b), which were then manipulated, rotated and recombined into an Art Deco geometric pattern. There are quite a few different images in the Art Deco series formed this way formed this way. In Art Deco 17c, I have used multiple repetitions of elements of the original image, flipped, rotated, and re-combined to form a central structure, flanked by a border structure on each side.

Ken Lerner is a passionate photographic artist, born into a family of renowned photographers in 1947. He began taking photos at the age of 6, using a camera given to him by his father. But he was not interested in simply reproducing real life moments. His vision was more subjective and he sought to project an internal reality of that moment.

At the beginning of his career, he almost exclusively created images with multiple exposures. This gave a complex structure to the images and represented a subjective view of the world. In the 2010s, after working in financial product sales, he returned to photography producing only single exposure images. Even though they were less structurally complex, they still represented a subjective view of the world, being almost totally abstract. Ken works extensively with reflective surfaces such as water, glass and metal.

A lover of the beauty of nature, Ken Lerner paints and photographs a lot of landscapes and seascapes. He is interested in presenting different possibilities of representing "nature" and often produces many variations of an image with different colors, shades, contrasts and saturations.
