Kelly Wayne is a painter born in 1980 in Mauritius. From an early age, she developed a passion for art and started drawing and painting at the age of 12. She sold her posters by going door to door with her twin to support them.
Kelly overcame obstacles with her optimism and talent for painting, despite the difficulties and insults due unlike him. She has made several exhibitions and trompe-l'oeil, using art as a means of escape and transposition of her emotions.
Between 2002 and 2007, Kelly made six solo exhibitions in Mauritius before opening his own gallery in 2008 in Grand-Baie, called "Kelly Wayne Art & Decoration". She continued her career in France after undergoing transition surgery in 2012 to become a woman. However, she faced Mauritian administrative difficulties in changing her gender on her birth certificate, which prompted her to move to France in 2013.
In 2019, Kelly held her first exhibition in France at Le Mans, under the theme of the universe, with 30 paintings exhibited. However, in 2020 she ran into trouble with the Mauritian administration while trying to renew her passport due to her gender transition, leaving her stateless. To overcome this situation, she had to apply for asylum with the help of six lawyers, which was a very unstable and uncomfortable situation.
Kelly finally obtained refugee status in March 2022 and opened his showcase workshop at 386 rue Aristide Briand Le Havre the same year. On October 29, 2022, she celebrated her 20-year artistic career in her studio by organizing a second solo exhibition under the theme of Meta-Morphe-Ose, which represents her private and professional life. She exhibited around thirty paintings retracing her 20-year career. In 2022, she also obtained the rating (Certified Artist Rating Index).
