I always loved the look of row homes from above. In Copenhagen there is a neighborhood called "Kartoffelrækkerne" or "The Potato Houses" and it is one of the most lovely places from above. I always loved the look of row homes from above. In Copenhagen there is a neighborhood called "Kartoffelrækkerne" or "The Potato Houses" and it is one of the most lovely places from above. A friend lived in an apartment above these houses and so I decided to make a little painting of her view. This painting is not true to color or anything like that, but is colored like I felt that morning when I made the work. Happy, vibrant, ready to tackle anything.

I chose gouache for its vibrance and flatness. I wanted a color that lacked opacity and stood out from the ink outlines.

This piece took 12 hours to create and was made from both real life and a reference image I took.

To make a single statement as an artist is to ignore exactly what art and creativity are all about. To be an artist is to be a person in love with their own, private evolution. To change and feel change is inherently what being creative is all about.. My art and my art career  has reflected this sentiment completely. I long to explore human nature and what it’s like to be a human, in a fixed time in space, but in a universe that is constantly shifting and evolving. What living a life with this vast historical knowledge inside us is for and how we can use it and art to change our trajectory for the better.

Much of my art explores the ideas behind class and social warfare as well as poverty and vulnerability. My work aims to center itself somewhere between community enhancement and equitable conversation and I tend to speak out against overreaching wealth and power. I am ever involved in the community effort and make art that I hope will impact the inequalities and separations within our country. Making art that brings about positive connection is essentially what I strive for as a creative.
