Kalu Uche is a contemporary Nigerian artist who hails from Lagos State. After completing junior secondary school, he enrolled at Government Technical College Lagos, where he pursued studies in graphic art. During this time, he also received training at Atoss Art Gallery as a sculptor from 1995 to 1998. Following his diploma in graphic art and painting, Kalu proceeded to Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra State, Nigeria, where he obtained a national diploma in fine and applied art.

While at Federal Polytechnic Oko, Kalu undertook various projects in both sculptures and paintings, including notable works such as the relief sculpture of the 14 stations of the cross and the Last Supper at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Umunaji, as well as window arcs and fancy pillars at Ozubulu. Additionally, he created wooden carvings for Beverly Hill Hotel in Nnewi, all within Anambra State. During his time in school, Kalu also organized a group exhibition with his fellow students in 2001.

Upon graduating from Federal Polytechnic Oko, Kalu embarked on his career as a visual artist, specializing in various painting styles such as realism, impressionism, abstract, portrait, landscape, seascape, and still-life paintings.
