Julee Latimer is a contemporary abstract artist based in Australia. The primary focus of Latimer's creative process is the use of dried paint. She creates paintings without brushes using paint that has dried before it is manipulated. The unsupported material's natural flexibility enables her to explore her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. She investigates the differences between control and freedom, instability and stability, and visibility and invisibility through her highly process-driven artistic practice. Julee Latimer wants to challenge preconceived notions about what a painting can be.
