When I created the original series of "Windows" back in the 70's I coated them with Gesso mixed with sodium chlorate so that they would self-destruct as a statement against art becoming too precious. When I created the original series of "Windows" back in the 70's I coated them with Gesso mixed with sodium chlorate so that they would self-destruct as a statement against art becoming too precious. My new works are not so coated. These triptychs work on multiple levels, 1.) The viewer can lift the layers and thereby change their own view of the art, 2.) These works beyond being abstract are also about the mistakes which are not only left in the artwork but in many cases encircled and celebrated and 3.) Their continuation in furtherance of the development of my own personal signature, i.e., as it relates to the juxtaposition of three and the Aries.
