This painting was inspired by a recent road trip from North Carolina to Maine and back. There were many stops alongside the road. This photo that inspired this painting was taken in Maine. I love to paint pathways, trails and roads (as you may see in many of my other paintings). This is a one-of-a-kind acrylic painting. [...]

While some artists may view the world as horrible and ugly, I do not

like to paint "ugly" art.  Like literature, I believe that art should

be a form of "escape" from the ugliness of the world. I like to evoke a pleasant

emotion through my art (such as a happy memory or a sense of deja vu)....

I also like to travel-I am inspired by colorful Caribbean sunsets,

palm trees blowing in the breeze, ocean tides, Tuscany hill towns, or even a dead tree hanging onto the side of a cliff at the Grand Canyon ....

I seldom paint people in my art as I like the viewers to imagine

themselves in my place, seeing what I am seeing and feeling what I am

feeling.  I enjoy the solitude of a beautiful sunset or ocean waves roaring to the shore.

I married in 2013 and moved  from Raleigh to the coastal North Carolina.  My

husband is a building contractor and built a beautiful art studio for

me in our home  and allowed me to "retire" at an early age from my

life as a paralegal.

I attended East Carolina University School of Art in Greenville, NC,

as a painting major with a drawing minor.
