Jean-Pierre Simard is an artist photographer who, until retirement, devoted most of his activities to performing arts, as a university teacher-researcher and as a playwright and theater director. However, he has always preserved his private garden as a witness photographer, sensitive to beauty and emotion, since my tender adolescence.

Pursuing, alongside the more recent digital, in film in his own lab and exploring the potentialities of the aesthetic shift from one to the other, he recently replaced this art of the still image at the heart of his artistic activities, as an experienced amateur over the years, notably during a joint exhibition with his painter and sculptor wife in December 2015. The reception of this exhibition made him want to reveal to the public his sensitivity and his view of the human solidarity or its traces in the rural or urban space.

A selection of his photos of the three techniques is presented here. In the past already, one could superimpose, solarize, transfer the photos for a share of sensitive creativity. The digital multiplies this creative faculty, confirming for photography its belonging to art alongside other modes of expression.

Jean-Pierre Simard lives and works in Saint-Just Saint-Rambert (France). His work is present in many private collections.
