Sobre a flor representada e um pouco de história: O nome científico do gerânio é Pelargonium Hortorum ,pertence à família das Geraniaceae e existem cerca de 300 espécie desta flor. Oriundos da África do Sul e da Austrália, mas, devido a sua rara beleza, rapidamente se popularizou e hoje são encontrados em todo mundo.
Sabia que os gerânios são cultivados para extração de tintas? Pois é, no interior desta flor existem substâncias capazes de serem transformadas em tintas- o que acontece sobretudo na Europa .
Há muita história por trás da flor de gerânio. Há registos de que Plínio, o velho, um historiador, naturalista e oficial romano que viveu entre o ano 23-79, recomendava sempre algumas gotas de chá de gerânio para aumentar a imunidade e ficar livre de doenças decorrentes.
E Pitágoras, filósofo e matemático grego, que viveu entre 570 e 495 a.C., também recomendava o chá desta planta aos seus alunos dizendo que aumentava a jovialidade e a paixão.
Horácio, outro grande sábio da antiguidade, poeta romano, dizia que ingerir gerânio era excelente para aumentar o saber e concentração.
