ANATIVE of Noranda, Québec, Guy Pierre is now living in Laval. At the age 12 he visited a wood sculpture studio in St-Jean-Port-Joli, little knowing this visit would mark the beginning of a promising career.

He revisited this studio in 1978 as a student of the École de Sculpture and following studies in the École du Meuble et du Bois ouvré of Vivctoriaville. In 1984, he enrolled in the Ottawa School of Art where he widened his studies in anatomy, pattern work, and moulding techniques. He pursued studies in bronze casting with Donald Liardi at the Alpen School of Art in Ontario and later advanced his training still further in France with Martine Vaugel, developing his anatomical skills by way of the clay medium. In June 1994, he won first prize for his sculpture 'Vent Chaud' at the International Sculpture Competition in Davenport, Iowa, and second prize for his work 'La Caresse'.

His sculptures are to be found in both private and public collections in many countries, including Japan, U.S.A., and Canada from British Columbia to Newfoundland.
