He was described as "the most generous, large-hearted being in the world. He also was the most delightfully amusing and egotistical creature on the face of the earth. His tongue was like a windmill – once set in motion, you never knew when he would stop, especially if the theme was himself."

Grâce Pégéron a grandi en PACA et aux Etats-Unis, mais a choisi Mèze pour poser ses valises. Désireuse d’aller à la rencontre de la palpitante identité de sa nouvelle région, elle s’intéresse aux personnages d’Occitanie aujourd’hui célèbres et les peint avec son ressenti.
Peintre académique à l’origine, Grâce s’éloigne de la toile de coton appelée professionnellement par la toile “grand écran”, pendant deux décennies. Après une carrière de scénariste, elle revient à la peinture avec des auto-portraits qui se révèlent mettre à nu ses blessures en demande d’attention. Est-ce l’artiste qui guide les pinceaux ou les pinceaux qui commandent à l’artiste ? Surprise par l’acuité de ces informations, elle tente l’expérience avec son entourage. Une révélation pour chacun.
Ses portraits en teintes poudrées et délicates, ou vibrantes, et ses coups de pinceau radicaux, au lieu de s’opposer, viennent s’accorder en un tout pour faire naître un moment de vérité envoûtant. Motivée par son intuition confondante, c’est à la croisée d’un monde réaliste et d’un monde ressenti que prend vie la peinture de Grâce.
