PIRELEONE is inspired by the view seen as you enter the Milan Central Railway Station on track 21 with the Pirelli Tower skyscraper (known as the "Pirellone", or "Big Pirelli") seen off in the distance. PIRELEONE is inspired by the view seen as you enter the Milan Central Railway Station on track 21 with the Pirelli Tower skyscraper (known as the "Pirellone", or "Big Pirelli") seen off in the distance. The architectural historian Hasan-Uddin Khan praised it as 'one of the most elegant tall buildings in the world' and as one of the 'few tall European buildings [that made] statements that added to the vocabulary of the skyscraper'. The Pirelli building was the inspiration for the design of the Pan Am Building (now MetLife Building) in New York.

In April of 2002 a small aircraft crashed into it killing the pilot and 2 people in the building. I lived around the corner from it at the time and was below it right after the crash.

I am a visual artist and singer songwriter/recording artist residing in southern Italy. I have lived in Italy for 25 years. I am a Minneapolis native and graduated from the Fine Arts Department at the University of Minnesota in oil painting and printmaking in 1990. I have shown my work in Milan, Stresa, Lodi, Verbania and Lecce, Italy, as well as in Minneapolis, Los Angeles and London.

I work mainly in the oil medium in a figurative style, concentrating mostly on urban landscapes with focus on architectural elements. Often bars form the backdrop as well, with or without people in them. I am also very much interested in painting abandoned and forgotten places/edifices and their old signs which are on the verge of going extinct due to globalization.

I am currently working on a series of life sized portraits of women taking 'selfies' of themselves.

I also work in the mixed media medium. Subjects revolve around pop culture images and have social-political, subliminal messages melded all together with oil paint which creates a chaotic, immediate, psychedelic landscape for pondering modern life conveniences and the repercussions of it.
