After the figurative and the portrait (80s), Gé Viot turned towards the abstract and informal painting in the 90s (1st prize international contemporary art fair Arles 98) to definitively adopt the abstract expressionist style.
His painting evokes the permanent balance of power that is life. It represents a snapshot of these forces present, expressing the continuous struggle between will, obstacles, creativity, constraints, freedom, supervision, escape, barriers ...
Hence the juxtaposition on the canvas of rigid (constraints, barriers) or fluid (creativity, freedom) shapes, of contrasting or blurred colors, of framed or free parts which confront and compete to finally harmonize.
