Federico Pisciotta is a contemporary Italian artist born in Rome in 1975. He began painting in the early 1980s under the guidance of Maestro Gino Righetto and Giorgio Vespaziani. In 1987 he moved to the School of Art of Maestro Roberto Ascolese, which he followed until the early nineties. In 1993 he graduated from the VI Liceo Artistico Statale in Rome and in 1997 in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, with Nunzio Solendo and Sandro Trotti.
Following the study and in-depth study of pictorial techniques, looking at the figuration of the Masters of the past, he created a long series of works that mark a fundamental moment very dear to the artist, linked to memory of De Chirico's Metaphysics.
In 2000 he inaugurated his first solo exhibition in Rome. The revisitation of American pop, between Oldenburg and Thiebaud, catalyzed by a combination of plastic materials, inevitably leads him to experiment with sculpture.
Since 2001 he has collaborated with the Forum Interart Gallery in Rome.
Later he began the complex research that traces the "existentialist" phase inaugurated with the solo show "Ænigma" in 2003. A new sequence of "Compositions" and unusual perspectives characterized by the frequent re-proposition of some symbolic objects linked to 'artist.
Since 2004 he has collaborated with the Simmi Gallery in Rome.
In 2005 with “Operaplastica”, new elements enhance, through fluctuating masses of colour, the material that composes them: plastic. The refined versions of the "Scacchi" follow and, subsequently, the use of copper, steel, aluminum and reinforced concrete, in the series of "Self-portraits" presented in 2007 in "Antologia Plastica", suggest a more intimate approach, inspired by exploration of the "paths of the soul" and in search of a language capable of transmitting profound anxieties.
After a few years of teaching, he moved to Fara in Sabina and dedicated himself exclusively to painting.
Starting from the latest compositional studies, he accidentally discovers the latest generation of videogames. The latest project is inaugurated and presented at the DomagkAteliers in Munich in 2014 on the occasion of a collective exhibition. A personal reinterpretation of painting, supported by multimedia interactions that recall the obsessive presence of computer iconography. The subjects staged are taken from the most well-known videogame players, some created through the hybridization between historical and virtual characters, then inserted into a context absolutely foreign to videogame narration but easily attributable to our post-social habits. His plexiglass video players, backlit with LEDs, overturn the balance of the painting, creating a space of image transition that underlines the precariousness and illusions of postmodern society.
The most recent production, focused on the search for a new figuration, investigates virtual reality, highlighting contemporary generational narcissism.
