I was born in 1959 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the daughter of the artist couple Alexander Hornung née Diez and Gisela Diez. Both had met at the Offenbach Art Academy in the post-war period. Both were artists by heart and blood and made no compromises. So I grew up in an illustrious world. A world that consisted of all kinds of colours, and exhibitions, journeys and changes of place, people and forms of communication. In the mid-70s we moved to France. The wonderful years in France were formative for a change of thinking. Since my parents lived all forms of art intensively, it was self-evident that art itself strongly influenced me. I wanted to become an actress. But my parents did not want me to walk the unpaved path of art either. I threw myself into the world without prospects and tried my hand at various professions, in which I was always successful. My parents died young and I still couldn't make peace with my past. Further strokes of fate prompted me to rethink. I returned to my fatherland - I couldn't call it home, because home is where you feel at home - and set out to rediscover the roots of my deceased parents. It was a terrible time for me, no longer knowing where I belonged. It was only in 2019 that I found the courage to express myself in an artistic form. The pain became the motor of creative power and the vulnerability of my soul led to new ways of seeing. And today, as I have decided to continue my life as an artist, I feel it that art has always been my life path. The essence of art itself, with all its different interpretations and expressions, is deeply anchored in me. My parents' extraordinary and creative way of life has had a strong influence on my worldview and my life. The milestones of my life's journey were not ordinary, nor puritanical. They were huge, colourful, varied, fascinating and vibrant. But they were also equally destructive, always torn between normality and the unconventional, combining both and trying to find my own way in between.
