He stares upon the relentless wave of time. A wave so incessant that it erodes one's very fabric, laying waste to one's memories and presence in the memory of others.
The painting also tackles a relentless wave of nationalism. A type of nationalism that sets of sirens and creates monsters. This conviction appears to have now resurfaced and is flowing into every crevice, saturating people's ability to empathise, laying sodden their ability to cooperate.

Rory Mitchell is a contemporary Norwegian painter. Although his working process relies heavily on a solid draughtsmanship, over the years this has been incorporated in a number of art disciplines, primarily oil painting and gouache painting. His intent is that the distorted lines and emotive colours lend themselves to the narratives he creates.
Today Mitchell works mostly with oil on canvas and creates figurative paintings with rich color palettes and Expressionist undertones.
Rory Mitchell was born in 1977, in Scotland, where he graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art.
