I remember this winter. I celebrated the New Year in India, in a male monastery. For 4 years I have been a nun and every year I came to the men's temple with a ladyfriend. We were allowed to stay there because we followed all the strict rules. And they were not very simple. Getting up at 3 in the morning, boiling water to take a shower, and it's almost impossible to talk to the monk boys ..
On that day, January 5, 2015, there was a lunar eclipse. In the eclipse, all the monks shaved their heads. A ladyfriend asked me - do you want to try? And I, a gentle, feminine girl with a mole above my lip, said - Yes! I want to understand what it is like to shave like monks ..
I'll tell you, the winter in North India is very cool. I opened my bald head only on the roof of the temple, when there was a rare sun ..
Sitting on the floor, holding a mrdanga - an Indian drum, and looking at the sacred river Yamuna, I thought - how lucky I am to be here ... in the temple of the Lord, forgetting about all the problems and worries ..
I got a lot of experience and realizations when I lived in a parallel world, somewhere in a small sacred city that looks more like a village. Among saint people, holy cows, monkeys and pigs. In simple clothes and bare feet.

Marina Petrova positions herself as an artist who shows in her work all facets of the female nature and their position in society.Marina Petrova studied at the graphic arts department of the Cherepovets state university. She lived in India for several years, studying local culture and religion. And already there she saw and felt the unequal attitude of society and men towards women. Also, communicating with people from different countries, she saw that this problem is relevant for women of any country and nationality. And she could not help expressing her attitude to this problem in her work.Support, self-love and confidence are the main goals and calls of her work.
Oil, acrylic and texture are the tools i work with. I paint pictures for 4-10 hours almost every day. Sometimes it is born instantly, sometimes difficult and painful. But each time is a complete dedication! I passionately want to support women who are insecure, self-conscious and reluctant to accept their body through my paintings.
