El sabio (2015) Printmaking by Itzeel Reyes

Itzeel Reyes is a plastic artist and philosopher. He has exhibited in various museums, galleries and houses of culture in Mexico and the USA. He has won two medals: bronze at the 1985 Tokyo biennial and silver at the biennial organized by the Japan Television Network in 1986. On the 13th of. August 2022 received first place at the Federico Kampf Biennial in Mexico. He has also illustrated various magazines such as Casa del Tiempo (UAM), El Búho Supplement (Excélsior newspaper) or La Mandrágora magazine. In 1998, she created the scenery for the play "La Mujer Loba está Sola" by Alejandro Licona. She has also done as Art Director, the "storyboard", setting and location design for movies and commercials.

I think that defines me as a painter, the united characters, interrelated with the land and all the elements of each painting. I believe that interconnection is the nature of all things, that we are not isolated individuals and that in addition to other people there are animals, plants and everything that surrounds us as part of ourselves.

Some say that these interconnections in my paintings represent veins, reflections of water, strips, branches, sound waves, I say they are roots, but each new interpretation of who gets the painting is amazing and complements the same work
