Itzeel Reyes is a Mexican plastic artist and philosopher whose work has been exhibited in numerous museums, galleries, and cultural centers across Mexico and the United States. Over her distinguished career, she has earned several prestigious awards, including a bronze medal at the 1985 Tokyo Biennial and a silver medal at the 1986 Biennial organized by the Japan Television Network. More recently, on August 13, 2022, Reyes received first place at the Federico Kampf Biennial in Mexico.

In addition to her achievements in the visual arts, Reyes has illustrated for notable publications, including Casa del Tiempo (published by UAM), El Búho Supplement (Excélsior newspaper), and La Mandrágora magazine. Her creative versatility extends to theater as well; in 1998, she designed the scenery for Alejandro Licona's play La Mujer Loba está Sola. She has also worked as an art director, contributing storyboards, set designs, and location concepts for films and commercials.

Central to Reyes' artistic philosophy is the idea of interconnection. She believes that all things, including people, animals, plants, and the environment, are deeply interconnected. This belief is reflected in her paintings, where the characters are often united and intertwined with the land and elements around them. While viewers have interpreted these connections as veins, water reflections, strips, branches, or sound waves, Reyes describes them as roots, embracing and celebrating the different interpretations her audience brings to her work.
