Giving one’s body or soul, or any part of oneself for receiving attention, for momentary satisfaction of a need or fancy, while inflicting emotional wounds, that is a suicidal, destructive impulse towards oneself. Feeling that there is not enough love, fear of physical and financial survival, which makes a person susceptible to manipulation by others who offer them the necessary in certain quantities (doses) against a "reward": attention , physical intimacy, company, etc. For example- remaining in a relationship because of financial gain ; selling ideas to companies that one does not believe in; make another maligned to receive their benefits- these are compromises with one’s own morals.
The positive side of The Prostitute refuses to compromise with the body or spirit, developing full self-esteem.
The Prostitute is considered "the oldest profession" and typical examples of this archetype were present in the ancient Greek brothels and also Mary Magdalene as a former “sinful woman” (as referred to in the Bible) transformed to a Jesus follower.
