Catali
Art is not reasoned, it is felt.
Since my earliest childhood in Ajaccio, the smallest piece of paper has always attracted my pen. Whatever the moment, the main thing has always been this need to "doodle" ASAP!
Twenty years ago, I finally decided to devote myself to this passion by joining a studio of island painters. I absolutely had to satisfy my need for creation. There, I got the taste for working in turn, alone in my studio in Bastelicaccia, then sharing time with other artists.
It was around this time that I replaced my childhood paper with canvas, and it was a real revelation. Putting the paint there quickly became an absolute necessity.
I use acrylic, oil, inks, charcoal, pastels, collages, modeling paste and all materials that come to hand .... generally mixing use with a brush, a knife .....
Very quickly, the modeling of the clay has also imposed itself, in parallel, as a complementary need to work in 3D, and to taste the physical pleasure of direct contact with the material to be animated.
My work is both abstract and very personal figurative. This one constantly leads me to explore the countless paths of the possible. Canvas, paper and clay allow me to transcribe my emotions, and my current issues. The result itself ultimately matters little, the main thing in my eyes being in the trajectories taken by the thoughts of the creator, and the observer...
Because above all, the human being is at the center of my concerns: his joys, his sufferings, his doubts accompany me in creation. Like life, my painting evolves according to exchanges, exhibitions, readings, travels, respecting the truth of the moment in an instinctive gesture.
I' put all my sincerity into it. It is both a will, a pleasure, a vital need.
I regularly exhibit my work in galleries because I appreciate the emotional sharing with visitors, it feeds my imagination and pushes me further in creation.
