Jivko Sedlarski
Jivko Sedlarski is a contemporary award-winning Bulgarian sculptor. Women or the "everlasting myth of woman" inspire a lot of his work. Sedlarski is also drawn to the worlds of fashion and Haute Couture, as well as medical anatomy, for inspiration. Many of his large-scale sculptures include free-standing metallic costumes that appear to be from another world. He works in a variety of media, including bronze, stone, and resin.
Jivko Sedlarski was born in 1958, in Bulgaria, where he graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia. He lives and works in France.

2008-l'année où j'ai commencé mes premières dessins et sculptures sur le thème de la Robe. Après une commande pour un parc privée, j'ai eu l'idée de faire cette robe. 18 mois de recherche. Une centaines de dessins et peintures, cinq maquettes avant d'attaquer la réalisation de la "Rainbow In The Dark". En acier inoxydable et une hauteur de 3,20 m.
Depuis, chaque commande suivant, même avec un thème opposé, j'ai proposé toujours une.

«… Très souvent, les sculptures de Jivko Sedlarski sont des progressions, des formes qui prolifèrent, s’escaladent et apparemment se moquent des lois de la pesanteur, ce qui met en évidence une autre caractéristique – le contraste entre poids réel et légèreté apparente de l’œuvre. En fait, c’est le premier qui soutient la deuxième, et qui permet à l’artiste de pousser ses formes bien au-delà du point où l’équilibre serait normalement rompu. Il en résulte un sentiment de mystère et presque de danger, qui s’accommode fort bien de certaines touches. Somme toute, c’est une vision à la fois vigoureuse, fragile et intrigante que Jivko Sedlarski nous offre – et c’est un privilège pour nous d’être admis à la partager ».

Biography
Jivko Sedlarski is a contemporary award-winning Bulgarian sculptor. Women or the "everlasting myth of woman" inspire a lot of his work. CONTRACT BETWEEN CONFLICTING ENERGIES
In his studio among ideas scribbled down in Bulgarian on sketches, among paintings, pastels and models: right there the artist, bothered, follows the sand track leading to the composite structure, of glass and resin; there a fabric slits its soul, stretched by the tacks threatening to tear apart.
“I have been watching the course of thing which meet each other. It is just like in the real life. There are elements which flow, spill or overflow. There are some which make use of their elasticity and other which break or tear up to pieces. Those which freeze and those which remain still. One has to watch for a long time. One has to listen. Within. Without. The elements function as the world does, like the relation between a man end a women. There are things said and other that remain a mystery.
