4000 anni prima di Cristo un popolo cominciò a coltivare la valle del Nilo, le cui acque fecondavano la terra e il cui corso forniva una via di navigazione. Protetti dal mare, dalle montagne e dal deserto, questi contadini prosperarono e mantennero la loro civiltà per 3000 anni, retta da un solo faraone.
Paese dove oggi convivono i silenzi dei monumenti di un antico passato ed il chiasso delle grandi città, dove la tradizione si sposa con gli scenari del nuovo millennio.
La campagna nilotica dà tono all'ambiente con i suoi scorci di fiume inquadrato dalle palme da dattero, canne da zucchero, con il ragazzo che pungola il bue che muove la ruota dei canali di irrigazione, le bianche piccionaie che sovrastano le case di fango e paglia, i piccoli commercianti che percorrono le vie dei bazaar portandosi sulle spalle il loro negozio ambulante tra i vicoli di sabbia e fango che sbucano nelle arterie principali, veri e propri palcoscenici di vita araba.
La campagna è il richiamo alle origini che la modernità non ha intaccato, il vero Egitto è quello delle fertili rive del Nilo e il deserto con le sue oasi dove regna il fellah che costituisce la base della piramide sociale in Egitto.
L'Egitto, paese dove ogni trenta secondi nasce un bambino, non è certo un paese ricco, è senza dubbio un paese di grandi contrasti, di ricchi e poverissimi, di estremi, di grandi contraddizioni.
Il ricordo del Nilo è essenzialmente legato ai tramonti incandescenti in un cielo puro che rende questi luoghi unici. Anche la notte lungo il fiume, mostra l’incanto, unica e rara, suggestiva, notte colorata, di meraviglie e di fascino..…
