Masquerade - Acrylic on Canvas inspired by action. A wonderful completion to this painting. I never know what the outcome is until I'm finished. This piece of artwork reflects masks and costumes hidden behind the lines and shapes. That was my first impression. I can hear the music and dancing as I gaze into the background. It was complete with hands, wood, cups and lids. The inspiration from Masquerade is filled with quicker actions, and color accent.

My name is Alex Herrera.  Born in 1972, I'm a self-taught artist from New Mexico. My background in education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration, and currently an MBA in Marketing student. I've been interested in art and painting as far back as I can remember. I believe art is an expression of self. Expressing thoughts, and feelings through gestural abstract paintings is where I find my passion. When I'm painting, I'm free. My completed paintings are a reflection of my thoughts. Without planning, I use materials that are readily available. The most common include paint lids, cups, syringes, tubes, wood, sponges and hands. My goals as an artist are to heal, and continue inspiration throughout the art community.
