This piece represents part of the first stage in esoteric alchemy where the alchemist examines the culmination of their past, their programming culturally, all knowledge gained, and the strength and weaknesses of the personality and ego. Once examined, the alchemist must "burn" and descimate their old selves or the philsopher's stone in order to get to the next stage of rebirth.

In this image, the tale of little red riding hood is used to represent what most girls are told in their lives, to be obedient to their parents, to be helpful towards their elders, to be sugar, spice, and everything nice. However, they aren't prepared to meet the wolf, and in their unpreparedness they must rely on the "woodsman" to save them. In this painting, red burns the forest down, taking care of the problem of the wolf herself, and also taking back some of her power from the situation for independence. She carries 3 sapplings in her basket, as she plans on being responsible for her actions to rebirth the forest on her terms, and become the future maker and planner of her life. She wears a mask partly to protect herself from harmful smoke of her actions, and partly because she has yet to fully become her true self hidden behind the mask.

Alchemical Art:

Transmutation

_______--And--_______

Transformation

I am currently working to become a full-time artist in Washington State. My subjects consist primarily of the metaphysical arts including alchemy, spirituality, theosophy, religion, mathematics, and qabbalah. The goal of most of my art is to achieve spiritual enlightenment through the artistic process, while transmuting my basal "lead" mass into the golden light of alchemists past. I study all occult subjects in my sparetime (what little of it there is) and use symbolism to represent these ideas and images throughout my art. Some of my art pieces are dreams (see Ancahuincan Fluxgate) and some are visions I have during meditations (see Ayahuasca Logos).

I am a professional custom framer for my current career until I can subsist on my art, so I pay close attention to art sizing, leaving edging for stretching or framing, or I frame or mat pieces myself using only the highest available materials for preservation purposes.
