Even though these lines were written in a different context, they express a fundamental truth: mothers love their children! This applies to Ukrainian and Russian mothers as well as to Israeli and Palestinian mothers. They also love their children and don't want to lose them to hatred, violence and war. Of course we are diverse but at the same time we are very similar. We all belong to the same species of Homo Sapiens and want to see our children grow up in peace. This requires unity, justice, freedom, equality, fraternity, respect and tolerance.
That is what this picture is trying to express: 120 childlike handprints; all very similar and yet different. There is no identical pair of handprints in this picture. And hidden between them is the heart of a loving mother. Referring to the variety of these handprints I sell variations of this picture as fine art print (paper format 50 x 50 cm, print format 40 x 40 cm) on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308g/m2 and signed by the artist. Each variation is very similar and yet different. Each one is unique.
