From the series "Hydrology" , a photographic series expressing the mystery of water. Inspired by Manuel Delanda's essay "Material Expressivity" and the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto who explored the effects of consciousness on water. Dr. Emoto used high-speed photography and Magnetic Resonance Analysis technology to capture the changes in the molecular structure of water when different sounds, emotions and environments and presented. The Hydrology series is a study of natural patterns that occur progressively as water transforms into ice during the prelude to winter. My intention was to express the ephemeral mystery of these impressions that were gradually morphing into solid ice on a small lake in an urban environment.

Douglas Capron (Canadian, b.1963) is a self-taught award-winning fine art photographer and has exhibited in Europe, the U.S.A and Canada.

He started his visual arts career documenting live music, particularly the Blues and Jazz scene in Montréal, Canada, and made his first experimental film in 1997 which won an Honorable Mention at the US Super 8mm Film Festival, Rutgers University, New Jersey. This progressed to taking portraits of musicians and designing album covers which inspired me to explore photography as an art form.

In 2002 he experienced an epiphany during the documentary film, « The Eloquent Eye », exploring the life and work of Alfred Steiglitz, and decided to commit seriously to the photographic arts.
