Dirk Krüll is a renowned German photographer, born in 1958 in Düsseldorf. Since 1978 he has worked between Düsseldorf and Mallorca, forging a distinguished career both as a freelance journalist and as an artist since 1988. His academic background is impressive: he graduated from the prestigious HfbK Art Academy and received a degree in designer (Diplom-Designer) from the University of Essen, known as "Folkwang", in 1994.

Krüll's achievements are as diverse as they are exceptional. He was honored in 1994 with an honorary appointment at the "DGPH" in Cologne. Two years later he became a member of the photo agency "Laif", also based in Cologne, and joined the "Pixelprojekt Ruhrgebiet" as well as the artistic community "Verein der Düsseldorfer Künstler". His career is marked by awards: the "Stern" journalism prize, the "Kodak-young academics" competition, and the scientific prize in 2001 for his report on crash test dummies, where he won first prize.

The grants and recognitions did not stop there: he received grants from the "VG Bild-Kunst" for his projects on the "Bonner Republik" and the coal region in China. Dirk was a Hasselblad Masters finalist in the product photography category in 2011, and won the PDN Photo Annual Award in the Corporate Design category in 2011 and 2012. 2012 also saw the prestigious IPA Lucy Award, where he won first prize in the automotive advertising category, followed by "One Eyeland" awards in 2012 and 2015, and finally, awards in 2018, including the Gold One Eyeland Award and the PDN Award for his personal work on "Plastic Army", without forgetting the Arte Laguna Special Prize.

Krüll's works are included in important collections, such as the Ruhrmuseum in Essen, the Haus der deutschen Geschichte in Leipzig, and the Deutsche Fussballmuseum in Dortmund. His current projects include in-depth studies of the coal region of Shanxi and Mongolia, an art project on the "Dancing Dogs", an exploration of the transformation of the landscapes of Mallorca, a series dedicated to his native Rhine region, and his project acclaimed “Plastic Army”.
