Cette histoire n’en est pas une. Elle n’a ni début ni fin. Pas plus que de signification revendiquée d’un propos sinon celle que le regard voudra bien découvrir. L’œil s’y promènera comme bon lui semblera. ROMAN PHOTO 73 est avant tout l’histoire d’une rencontre, celle de différents langages cherchant à s’épauler, s’interpénétrer, dans la quête du Faire apparaître. D’abord il y eut les mots, la tentative de l’écriture romanesque provoquant la naissance de personnages emblématiques des mœurs humaines : l’ordre, l’autorité, la dépravation, l’innocence, le vertueux… L’aventure de l’imaginaire était ainsi ouverte. Puis, il y eut le désir de mettre en situation ces archétypes dans les chambres et les couloirs d’un vieil hôtel. Enfin, vint le temps de laisser ces langages bavarder entre eux. À l’auteur de les écouter. Quelques décennies plus tard, ROMAN PHOTO 73 se révèle être la matrice prolifique et baroque du travail de Jean DESMIER développé jusqu’à ce jour.
