Darelen is a self-taught artist photographer from the north of France born in 1983. He began photography at the age of 9 with his first compact film camera. His style differs from other naturalist photographers in that he uses very long focal length lenses to photograph small close subjects (plants, vegetation, wetlands, etc.), whereas this type of equipment is generally used for very distant.
This technique makes it possible to crush perspectives, to focus on details, but also to better separate the different planes of the image. He also likes to play with the aperture of the camera to create blurs that accentuate the feeling of depth, and sometimes, bring an impression of movement.
Then, for certain photographs, he multiplies them in a single work, without manipulation aimed at distorting them, creating a sort of polyptych but on a single physical support.
Self-taught, what matters to him is creation, without perfectly established rules, moreover, he sets no limits to creation. He works on improvisation, since his subjects are anyway unpredictable. They play with the light, the humidity, the seasons, the beings with whom they live. In each shot, he studies colors, textures, natural light, the composition of the image, the rhythm of the living being he photographs...
