Each of my creations begins with a drawing, virtual or sketched. How do you shape these brass rods or steel plates? What complicity will become possible between the hardness of the metal and the lightness of the object? It is sometimes the natural stone that will decide the shape of an adornment or the combination of technical constraints will impose its standards. Each piece should be beautiful, but also functional; this is the major challenge!
Perfectly self-taught, unknown to art schools, all I have is a boilermaker CAP!
J I was promised to the industry when chance led me in 1984 to a designer with a storefront in Les Halles. In 1992, I decided to go solo! And since then I have been designing and producing lines of lighting and furniture, animal sculptures and decorative objects... in steel and brass. I sculpt, shape and assemble these two metals using complementary techniques: welding, cutting, hammering, polishing, brushing… Shaped freehand, each creation is unique and reveals itself according to my inspiration and the movements of the material. .
Painted, chromed or raw, finishing is the last step, but not the least.
Depending on the object, I freeze the life of the metal by applying a surface treatment or else I entrust the evolution of its appearance to time. In this case, the interior furniture is varnished or chromed while my creations for the garden, made from concrete iron, will take on the colors of the passage of time.
I also likes assembling recycled materials.
I have declined a collection of motorcycles designed from mismatched brass parts that I cut, assemble or modify to match realism and creativity. My animal sculptures are most often life-size and sometimes filled with natural materials: straw for the rhinoceros or virgin wool for the lambs...
Finally, natural stones such as agate, gypsum, or multicolored glass , also decorate my sculptures or lights. Color and light then combine to bring out the brilliance of the material.
I also work to order and regularly collaborate on the realization of original projects, to satisfy the most demanding customers.< /strong>
Since 1995, I have regularly participated in craft exhibitions and art markets bringing together artists recognized for their creativity and know-how. Come meet me there!
