Cidàlia Alves is a visual artist who captures a fragmented world in her photos. Details invade his images and reverse the hierarchies. The infinitely small becomes preponderant. Objects lose their outlines until they blend into the photo and disappear completely. The textures then brought to light outcrop on the surface like sedimentary rocks. The materials represent the peeling skin of cities, the debris of a bygone world, exhaustion and wear. It is time that passes and repeats itself ad infinitum. These are no longer photos but abstract paintings in which Rothko's influences are evident.

Whatever the theme, graffiti, tourada, landscapes, nature, she uses photography as a form of expression, her reflex like a pencil, a brush or a spatula or to be more brutal with a knife, the light of day and that of night provide him with the color chart. From there his sketch takes shape. Its message is deliberately expressed with restraint so that everyone can give free rein to their imagination.

From her New York stays, her Portuguese origins and her daily life between a Berrichonne countryside and her Parisian life, she reveals the testimony of her encounters: Urban, Nature, Texture.

His work is largely focused on graphics, the play of contrasts and light establish a parallel with contemporary painting, his reflex helps him to sculpt this material, the prints on canvas or sometimes collage allow him to concretize this painting. contemporary, abstract but so authentic.

Cidàlia did her apprenticeship in the famous Appollot studio in Grasse before continuing her reflection with the artist Jean Kirsch who introduced her to Neo-Impressionist drawing and painting. André Le Manchec then encourages him to deconstruct photography by bringing it closer to a pictographic experience. But it is above all his meeting with the abstract painters Anna-Eva Bergman and Hans Hartung in Antibes that will influence him the most. She will continue her discoveries in the United States and get into color by photographing New York graffiti with the complicity of photographer Todd Weinstein.
