Christian Voulgaropoulos, renowned press photographer, has traveled the world working for various French magazines. As a specialist in reportage, he has explored a multitude of subjects, ranging from portraiture to underwater and aerial images, as well as views of exceptional sites.

His passion for photography began in 1972, when he joined ASA PRESS, the only agency specializing in Reportage Magazine at the time. Within the agency, he started as an employee in the laboratory, where he perfected his art of black and white printing for the international press. It was there that he learned the ropes of being a reporter-photographer and obtained his Press Card in 1977. Since then, he has never lost his status as a professional journalist, and today he holds his Card Honorary Press Award in recognition of his exceptional career.

Christian Voulgaropoulos embodies a unique and passionate personality. His lively gaze and communicative energy are combined with a silver mane and a Brassens-style mustache. This man with his feet on the ground and his head in the stars explores the world in search of experiences, encounters and astonishments.

A convinced hedonist, he says: "I don't make art, I take pleasure." However, he spares no effort to satisfy his penchant for perfectionism.

Christian Voulgaropoulos' beginnings in photography date back to a day in a forest, where buds, dead leaves, trunks and embankments became a source of inspiration. This day marked the start of an adventure that has lasted 25 years. He bought his first camera, an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic 1000, by pure chance, and it quickly became a fascination for him.

Photography became his great love, and since then he has continued to travel the world, an insatiable globe-trotter, curious about everything that people and places can offer in terms of surprises and emotions.

Through his lens, he explored the streets of old Bordeaux, immortalizing the "knitters" waiting for their customers, the forests of the Landes during the resin harvest, and the wash houses of Ménilmontant, where the last washerwomen were busy.

He traveled through Alaska, Brazil, Egypt, Central America and the United States. He met Indians in the Amazon, gold prospectors in Matto Grosso, sorcerers in Papua, capturing the fascinating diversity of our world through his lens.
