Christian est un sculpteur animalier figuratif. Il excelle dans la justesse du mouvement et de l’expression. Le regard, passionné et précis, offre au geste une belle fidélité dans l’attitude naturelle de l’animal. Son œuvre nous touche par la vie qui transpire à travers la matière.
Le modelage fait partie intégrante de son enfance, mais c’est à l’adolescence qu’il conforte son talent auprès de céramistes nordistes. Sa carrière d’instructeur d’équitation et de conseiller technique régional lui assure une proximité de chaque instant avec notamment les chevaux dont il connaît chaque pli de peau.
Christian Bigeast sculpte la faune domestique et sauvage. Il réalise des sculptures en terre avec patine bronze ou au blanc de lithopone, des céramiques craquelées ou enfumées avec la technique du rakü. Ces terres sont toujours des pièces uniques qui ne seront pas présentées en bronze. Certaines sculptures partent directement en fonderie.
