Née à Paris en 1958, Marie-Noëlle arrive au Canada à 6 ans. Elle découvrira le plaisir de dessiner dès la première année scolaire. En 1972, elle fera les dessins dans le journal scolaire en prenant le sobriquet[...]

Née à Paris en 1958, Marie-Noëlle arrive au Canada à 6 ans. Elle découvrira le plaisir de dessiner dès la première année scolaire. En 1972, elle fera les dessins dans le journal scolaire en prenant le sobriquet de Chay, car il lui fallait raccourcir sa signature pour bien cadrer avec les images.

Vers l’âge de 20 ans, elle découvre le plaisir de peindre avec la peinture à l’huile. Un an plus tard elle exposera dans les bars, restaurants et cafés.

En 1980 Marie-Noëlle coanimera l’émission Vers l’Art 2000. Cela lui donnera la chance de voir une panoplie d’artistes ayants des styles très variés. Son horizon s’élargira, essayant plusieurs médiums dont la peinture acrylique qu’elle n’affectionne pas particulièrement. Cela ne se produira que bien plus tard  quand les produits disponibles seront grandement améliorés.

En 1994, première exposition Solo : campagne de levée de fonds pour l’Hôpital Ste-Justine. Expérience qu’elle répétera pour la Fondation Canadienne du Cancer et la SPA.

Comme la toile Mayday le démontre, les toiles de Marie-Noelle, ou Chay, sont inspirées d’histoires à raconter. Parfois heureuse et parfois moins, mais toujours sincères.
