Carmelo Micieli is a professional architect and photographer. His artistic training began very early in Sicily, where he began to draw and photograph the agricultural landscapes and the coasts of the southeast.

He was always particularly attracted by the sea and the impressionist painting practiced by the painters of the 19th century, managing over time to develop photographic techniques that he shares with the "pictorialists" of this historical period.

His origins and the places where he grew up lead him to seek, through the visual arts, anthropological elements that relate in particular to the culture and identity of the Sicilian people.

He is featured in Vogue Italia's "Photographers" online magazine, where he presents his own portfolio. Some of his photographs have been published by National Geographic in 2016, 2017 and 2019. He has organized photographic exhibitions on subjects related to the history of peasant civilizations in the artificial landscape of the Iblei region in Sicily. He is among the winners of the 5th edition of the international photography festival in 2021 organized by the Fototeca Siracusana and entitled: "The future announced".

He has published historical-photographic books on the work of unknown artisans from southeastern Sicily in order to promote and publicize its beauty, mainly in kindergartens.

Carmelo Micieli lives and works in Italy. Several of his photographic works are part of private collections in America, the United Kingdom and Italy.
