Caloulabissa s'inspire des arts ethniques de tous les continents. Son surnom Calou s'est enrichi de "la Bissa" en référence à un peuple d'Afrique de l’Ouest dont elle partagerait certains traits de caractère, d'après un ami rencontré lors d'un périple au Burkina Faso.
Elle a toujours pratiqué la peinture en parallèle de son activité d’accompagnement des personnes en situation de handicap en tant qu’éducatrice, médiatrice artistique et art-thérapeute.
En privilégiant des matériaux et médiums naturels et locaux, Caloulabissa s'inscrit dans une démarche durable qui lui est chère. Elle "construit" ses tableaux avec des symboles, des motifs et des signes qu'elle glane au fil de ses voyages, réels ou imaginaires. Ses Œuvres singulières, positives et colorées invitent à l'évasion et à la rêverie.
