Self-taught painter, I' I exhibited for about twenty years sporadically and according to my professional and family availability, in Paris then for a long time in Provence and in the Dordogne where I lived before my return to my roots in Auvergne land.
My professional career having made me travel to the four corners of the world, it is during my many journeys (Asia, South America, Africa mainly, Europe of course) that I found my main source of inspiration, aided by my sketchbooks and my numerous shots of portraits taken on the spot during many unexpected and sometimes very moving encounters.
My work is organized mainly on portraits ethnicity of women. They allowed me to highlight the persistence of their claimed identity, and to 'transcode' through the colors and the brushes their strength of character and their authenticity while emphasizing their beauty and their fragility.
Self-taught, I naturally turned to acrylic for its ease of use and its diversity then over time I refined the nuances, accentuated the colors and the contrasts by the use of mixed techniques: oil, oil pastel, pigments, sometimes application of gold leaf on canvas or paper mounted.
