It is a painting of a panoramic view of one of the best known areas of Madrid. I think it is a very attractive image to paint, both the perspective of the Gran Vía street and the main building, that is what encouraged me to paint it, and the light that the painting gives off, an intense light typical of midday in Madrid in summer. Borja Isbert is a painter from Madrid, from a family of artists (not in vain, his grandfather was the famous actor Pepe Isbert) who has based his work mainly on urban realism. However, he has painted a wide range of subjects, from detailed portraits to landscapes, everyday scenes and panoramic views.

What moves him to paint is the search for light and its reflection on objects, the capture of that magical instant of forms in a fixed, timeless moment, with space, depth and movement always present in his painting. Although in his beginnings he often limited himself to the real reflection of things, as in a still image, his painting is gradually transforming into a deeper, more intimate search for scenes. No longer satisfied with simply capturing reality, the painter also wanted to penetrate more intensely into the mysteries of reality, for which he played more and more with primary colours and contrasts of light.

In the end, this is what he is looking for: to cause an emotion in the viewer, so that the image does not leave them indifferent, creating sensations and feelings, like something they have experienced.

Lately, his portrait painting has been particularly outstanding, and he is beginning to be a sought-after painter in this speciality.
