This painting was inspired by the Tea Pickers, they start working in the morning at 7.30.
Tea picking is a low paid job, so some family members work overseas in the Middle East, or other parts of Sri Lanka.

The cultivation and sale of black tea has changed the lives of several generations of Sri Lankans since 1867.

Young leaves must be hand-harvested every 7-14 days before they become stiff.
This means that the workplace can change daily, depending on where the leaves need to be collected.
