AZDINE was born in 1969, the year when "Amstrong set foot on the moon, while he descended into a pot of paint". Rebellious from an early age, school hardly fascinates him, and it is by chance meeting with a doctor passionate about watercolors, that his passion will be born, landscapes, faces and caricatures never leave him.
At 15, he joined a SAFI pottery where he discovered water-based painting. He painted vases and all kinds of pottery with varied or traditional decorations. But, after seven years, driven by the imperative need to paint, he set off on an adventure to discover MOROCCO.
In TANGIER, where to survive, he sketches the portrait, on the sidewalk, and it is there, seduced by this city with narrow streets, veiled women, that he discovers acrylic. to transcribe this street life discovered in the north of MOROCCO.
In MARRAKECH where for a year, he will check during constant back and forth, the accuracy of the colors and lights transcribed on his canvases.
A few galleries then took an interest in him, but the call to travel was there again, and he resumed his "pilgrim's brush" to
ESSAOUIRA, then AGADIR, TAROUDANT, ZAGORA.
Living with the poor, he observes, identifies the traditional ancestral gestures of his characters before giving birth to them.
on the Web. But it is in OUARZAZATE that he feels the need to settle, and of course his steps will lead him quite naturally
towards AÏT BEN HADDOU, mythical citadel where he can work and live in harmony with nature.
Other meetings, will take him to France, to CASTRES, to TOULOUSE then to PARIS at the VICTORIA space
where more than 200 paintings and watercolors seduce Parisians.
He then opened a gallery in OUARZAZATE with his brother Ahmed before discovering AMERZGANE.
"The Painter's Kasbah", an exceptional place where time stands still, in an oasis of dreams and traditions, was born.
