This painting was, initially, to be a work dedicated to Charlie Chaplin, and more precisely to the film "Modern Times". However, this painting of which I had started the collages remained, unfinished, in a corner of the studio for about two years. At the announcement of the confinement following the Coronavirus health crisis on Sunday evening of March 15, and at the announced closure of all non-essential stores ..., from Monday, not having had the possibility of supplying me as a frame, I had the idea to recycle this unfinished canvas while keeping the initial title "Modern times"! I think this title suits him well because this table shows the weakness of the system in "our modern times"! Initially, I had chosen an elephant as a subject with the project of pasting images of elephant stories to it, which was a continuation of my painting committed to endangered species. The Coronavirus crisis having come to upset our daily life, I decided to fill my elephant, no longer with collages referring to its species, but by using the press clippings of the moment relating the suffering of the nursing body in the face of this global crisis and , in particular, the lack of means to cope with it. THEREFORE I DEDICATE THIS WORK TO THOSE AND THOSE WHO, WITH EMPATHY, COURAGE AND PURPOSE, HAVE STRUGGLE AND ALWAYS FIGHT WITH FREQUENTLY REDUCED MEANS AND AT THE RISK OF THEIR OWN LIFE AGAINST A VIRUS OF WORLDWIDE REACH IN A SANITARY SYSTEM BY THE GOUVERNIBOND WHO HAVE SUCCEEDED IN FRANCE DURING ALL THESE LAST YEARS.

Marina Argentini is a painter and sculptor from Tarquinia, her hometown in Italy, where her passion for art took root. In the late 1970s, she joined an artistic workshop called the Etrusco Lludens, collaborating with local artists under the direction of Chilean painter Sébastien Matta. This workshop was a place dedicated to pottery, painting and sculpture, where Marina could develop her artistic skills and explore different forms of artistic expression.

When she left Italy to settle in Paris, her passion for art accompanied her. In 1986, Marina took a major step in her artistic career by applying for her first public exhibition at the Salon d'Automne at the Grand Palais, Paris, after being encouraged by the artist Leonor Fini. This first landmark exhibition was followed by many others over the years.

In 2013, Marina was honored to see two of her works included in the permanent collections of the Musée de la Poste in Paris, a testimony to the recognition of her artistic talent.

Marina Argentini's artistic approach has evolved over time. After a period of abstract painting focused on material and pigments, she gradually returned to collage, a technique that she had abandoned in favor of more classic methods. She also continued to explore the use of matter in her artistic creations, as evidenced by her works presented in the “Painting and Matter” gallery.

Marina is a fan of recycling and not wasting, collecting objects and elements that she integrates into her artistic works, as shown in the “Special Collages” gallery.

His art is often engaged, whether it is raising awareness of animal rights or advocating for an environment that is more respectful of nature. Over the years, she has explored a variety of themes, from dance to music, city life to transportation, and more, as evidenced in the first galleries of her artistic work.

Marina Argentini considers that her artistic creations should not follow a predefined line, but rather follow the paths dictated by her emotions, her inspirations and the chances of the moment. His works are a reflection of life with all its facets, and his artistic approach is a reflection of his commitment to an authentic and free expression of his emotions and convictions.
