Mon travail d’artiste s’est situé d’emblée dans la figuration, la représentation d’après nature.
Je n’utilise jamais de photo ou d’autres support visuel.
Ma technique est le pastel sec, fusain, mine de plomb, en direct, encre de chine plume et lavis, sur papier, ou papier marouflé.
Mes formats sont de 30 x 30 CM à 200 x 200 cm.
Lorsque je dessine ou je peins au pastel, je laisse « arriver » simplement le geste, sans pensée volontaire, dirigée, qui précèderait le geste de la main, comme le musicien de jass improvise avec son instrument.
Il en résulte l’ambiguïté d’une figuration qui est, et n’est pas la chose.
L’intellect est déjoué. Souvent le résultat m’étonne et me surprend, ou même parfois me fait peur,Mon sujet de prédilection est l’être humain.
C’est dans cette relation si particulière avec le modèle: la communication non verbale que je puise mon inspiration.
Je pense à Giacometti « qui cherchait à voir en dessinant ». J’essaie de retenir et de m’approprier ce que je vois, afin de connaître la réalité en lui donnant une pérennité dans le temps.
