Inspiration: Bevor wir selber eine Tour mit diesem U-Boot in April 2017 auf Gran Canaria unternommen haben, habe ich die ankommende Touristen fotografiert. My father showed me the first steps of painting as a child and I quickly found pleasure in painting. Art became my hobby in my childhood and youth. In the years of growing up, I saw less sense in painting, had no good ideas and wanted to discover other talents in myself. I painted my last picture before graduating from high school in 2006. In the following years I followed my other interests and studied economics. I also attended various advanced training courses and tried my hand at leisure courses.

With the passing of years and many different experiences in my life, I was looking for a hobby that would make me personally happy. A thing that you stick with for longer because it is not difficult for you. I was inspired by an online article on Forbes. The author recommended that you should remember your childhood interests and hobbies if you are looking for something that can make you happy and satisfied.

In the spring of 2015 I wanted to give my niece something special for her 10th birthday and I painted her during swimming training, because she was successful in swimming as a child and has received many medals for her achievements. I received a lot of encouragement for the painting and was surprised by my performance, as I had not painted for over 9 years. That motivated me to paint more pictures as gifts for family and friends. I also noticed that painting is relaxing for me, but at the same time it is varied and enriching for my full-time analytical job.

In the first half of 2017 I attended two acrylic painting courses lasting several weeks to get tips. After that, I decided to go my own way, learn through independent experience and develop my skills independently. For me, working on each picture is a kind of project where I create something new every time. The exciting thing for me is to start with a white canvas and with an idea in my head and at the end to have a finished painting for which I am responsible.

The more I started to paint, the more I became aware that there are ideas everywhere. You just have to go through the world attentively and with open eyes. In recent years I've been inspired by the photos from my travels, which often capture fleeting moments and therefore don't necessarily look perfect. With my paintings I try to perfect this moment and let it appear harmonious. I adapt these ideas according to my ideas, whether I only take a section of the photo, leave something out, add to it or put parts together from a few photos and thereby inspire an idea.
