Slate resin The series of swimmers stems from my interest in the way artists have dealt with the subject throughout history. From Classical time onwards, the theme has become synominous with the society's vision of the ideal body. The theme often signifies ideas of hedonism and beauty. Adrian Bannister

Adrian studied for his BA (Hons) in sculpture at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle from 1993-96. Here he created several installations including 'swim', a life sized group of figures in a controlled environment which acted like a walk-in painting. From 1998-2000 he studied under Laurie Preece at Brighton University for an MA in Fine Art. Over this period his work developed from group arrangements, to individual works concerned with the spiritual and metaphysical possibilities of colour and form in figurative sculpture. Adrian exhibits regularly in London and recently took part in a group sculpture show at the Bruton Street Gallery. He also undertakes private commissions and works part time as a 3D specialist at Hampton school.
