Grand rire (2020) Painting by Yan Zhu

Artist-Painter of Chinese origin, graduated from the Lu Xün (Lou Hsun) Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang (one of the four most renowned National Higher Art Schools in China) , Since 2001, she has lived in France, in Nice where she works as an artist and art teacher.

Zhu Yan's works are regularly exhibited in France but also in Monaco, Italy, China as well as than in Japan. She creates oils, acrylics, watercolors and more Chinese painting, then calligraphy. At the beginning of her years of practice, she was greatly influenced by the academic style of fine arts but after living on the French Riviera, her style evolved greatly with the use of bright, cheerful and vibrant colors. . She uses the knife to paint and adopts a sublime and limpid style; rhythmic, lively and cheerful. She is above all concerned with expressing her own vision of “beauty and elegance”.

The cultural differences between the East and the West have made it possible to ;enrich your points of view. His creations evolve from realism to romanticism to the abstract. For Zhu Yan, it is essential to be able to express feelings, emotions but also spirituality.

She has obtained numerous international, national or regional distinctions and prizes and has often been in the spotlight in various artistic publications. In 2011 she received the Silver Medal for her numerous successes (Association of French Merit and Dedication).
