Yasmin Hughes

Yasmin Hughes was born in 1993 in Auckland, New Zealand. She lives in the Philippines and travels to New Zealand twice a year. Having spent two years of her life in Florida in the United States, as well as eleven years in the mountainous city of Baguio, she is well accustomed to cross cultural surroundings. Yasmin’s interest for photography started at the age of 11 when she borrowed her grandfather’s camera. She spent hours in the garden experimenting and learning with guidance from her grandfather who was a professional photographer in his earlier years.

At age thirteen, Yasmin moved with her mother to the Philippines to start an NGO where her eyes were opened to another way of life. Here she studied long distance from New Zealand taking classes in Photography online and as her skills developed, she began photographing for the NGO. It was then she discovered her skills in Photography and that it was something she wanted to pursue as a career. She went onto complete her Associate of Arts degree with High Honors at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco having gained new skills to equip her for her future career.
