This is a pastel drawing of the salt marshes around Wells next the sea. I became so sick of the over cultivated fields of England that I was seeking some truly unspoilt lancscape. Only on the margins of cultivated land could I find the beauty I sought. Because it is invaded by the sea every day it is also ruled by the sea and not man. The tide cuts these deep rivers into the mud. The only sign of man is the tiny wooden bridge on the horison.
It is a pastel and very fragile, consequelty I would very much like to paint it larger for you (120 x 80) in acrylic paint and inks on stretched canvas. The edges would be fully painted in harmony with the painting itself to give the painting greater depth. Consequently it can be mounted on the wall without a frame and looks great as an integral part of your decor.
If you like it but it is not your particular favourite view, please consider commissioning me to paint the unique work of art your favourite image or view. We will discuss, negociate and agree on what is possible and right for you. You pay 50% up front an,d 50% on completion when you are satisfied with the emailed images and progress reports. I am an English paintier living in Mexico. At times it can seem to be a very crazy culture, but this makes it particularly exhilarating for me. Whilst in England everything happens behind closed doors, here it is much more on the street. It is a living culture with street parades, festivals, religious pilgrimages and street theatre. Queretaro is particularly rich in theatres and party places for children. Mexico is a melting pot of peoples including Spanish, Indigenous Indian Toltec and European/Americans (USA). We are at the meeting point of all the Americas. Drugs going north, guns coming south, illegal imigrants going north and United States industry moving south. Corruption, kidnapping, extortion and narco-gang-wars are rife. The costumes are colourful, the women are very womanly and sexy and the people fun-loving. There is much poverty, especially in the indiginous Indians who form the majority of the street sellers. Despite the corrupt laws, police and Caltholic church, the people can always smile with broad smiles and laugh at advercity. Every birthday is taken as an excuse for a party/fiesta. For me it is a painter's paradise. I am just surprized that it is relatively undiscovered and not more of a tourist attraction to Europeans.
