New-York corner.

Valérie Le Meur is a contemporary French painter whose artistic journey is deeply influenced by her birth in the vibrant month of August in the heart of Paris, France. Currently residing and creating in the suburbs of Paris, Valérie's art is a reflection of the interplay between light and color, which is intrinsically tied to the sensory experiences of her birth month.

Figurative painting is a natural magnetism for Valérie, drawing her into the realm of visual storytelling. Yet, she remains open to the ever-enticing pathways of artistic discovery. Within her works, light and colors take center stage, playing a pivotal role in shaping the emotional narratives she conveys.

Valérie Le Meur's artistic philosophy aligns with the wisdom of Leonard Cohen, who once said, "There's a crack in everything. That's where the light gets in." She cherishes these imperfections, particularly in the context of human beings, for she possesses a genuine fondness for people. Her paintings capture individuals in the midst of their actions, offering a glimpse into the world of raw, unfiltered emotion. Precision and accuracy are secondary concerns; Valérie occasionally toys with proportions, distorting them intentionally. This approach, she believes, enables her to better convey the genuine emotions and feelings that originate from the heart.

Valérie's artistic muses encompass a wide range of influences. She draws inspiration from Romantic artists such as Delacroix, who masterfully conveyed emotions, life, and the very essence of human existence. Her admiration extends to Sorolla, the brilliant Spanish master of light, whose work has left an indelible mark on her own approach to luminosity.

While Valérie Le Meur's art often features scenes of joyous holiday celebrations, replete with families and children, she is not one to shy away from addressing the stark realities of society. Her canvas delves into topics like hooliganism and war, unveiling the hidden layers of violence that persist beneath the surface. Valérie possesses a unique ability to penetrate the human soul and reveal the pain, sadness, and terrors that often go unnoticed, showcasing the profound depths of human emotions and the stark specter of loneliness.

The Artist was highlighted in an article in Artmajeur Magazine:
