According to some people art is the highest expression of the human spirit. They believe that we yearn to transcend the merely finite and ephemeral and as to participate in something mysterious and collectively shared called “culture”; this is as strong in our species as the yearning to reproduce the species. I subscribe to this view; artists create work that will speak to others who know nothing of them. By their dedicated labors artists create an intimacy between strangers, so that we aliens finally form a warm community. Thus, without the arts, life is brutish, no matter the money in your pockets. I want to offer my best self to the goddess of the art—Saraswati
